An unidentified man was found in the HVAC system of Walter's Southern Food Cafe in southwest Atlanta on Monday morning. Emergency officials were dispatched to the restaurant located at 394 Cleveland St SW around 9 a.m., after a call was logged around 8:58 a.m.
Details of the Body Discovery
Witnesses told police that the man's head, arms, and torso were protruding from the HVAC unit located above the frying area of the cafe. One restaurant employee said, "We only saw his head." Another employee, who was a cook, told reporters that a female coworker first spotted the individual upon arriving at work.

The cook recalled: "He came in yelling and told me, 'Rick! Look, look, look.'" He added, "You only saw his head." According to the restaurant owner, an employee initially found the man in the HVAC system. Atlanta fire crews were also dispatched to the scene and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigations and Reactions
Initial investigations indicate that there are no signs of foul play. Atlanta police's homicide unit and crime scene unit, along with the Fulton County medical examiner's office, were dispatched to the scene. Customers who later arrived at the restaurant found it closed.
One customer told reporters, "I don't even know how you could get up on the roof." A nearby gas station is located on a steep incline that allows access to the roof, and police used a ladder to reach the top of the building. Another person at the scene said, "It's strange to want to get in. For what purpose? No food has been prepared yet."
The cause and manner of death are currently under medical examination investigations. Family members arrived at the scene throughout the day and told police they believe the man is one of their relatives.
