A man convicted of killing three people is set to be executed on Wednesday in Texas. This execution will be the fifth in Texas, while Georgia has had no executions this year. The busiest death chamber in the United States is located in Florida, which accounts for more than half of the 25 executions carried out this year.
Details of the Lejeune Norman case
Lejeune Norman, 40, was sentenced to death in 2005 for the fatal shootings of 24-year-old Samuel Roberts, 18-year-old Tiffany Peacock, and 38-year-old Celso Lopez in a house in a small rural town. Norman is scheduled to be executed at 6 PM local time with a lethal injection of the sedative pentobarbital at the state prison in Huntsville.

Stacey Humphries' death sentence put on hold
Stacey Humphries, 53, was convicted of murder and other crimes in 2003 for the murder of 33-year-old Cindy Williams and 21-year-old Lori Brown. She was scheduled to be executed at 7 PM local time at the state prison near Jackson, but a judge issued a ruling that put her execution on hold. The judge also indicated that this stay could be lifted before the scheduled execution time.
Norman and Kreshawn Remy believed there was cocaine in a house in Edwina, about 100 miles (161 kilometers) southwest of Houston, and intended to steal it. However, they found no drugs and killed three people in the house. Norman was arrested five months after the murders while attempting to return to the United States from Mexico.
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles denied Norman's request for a commutation on Monday. Norman's lawyers have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review this decision. In 2017, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review Norman's request regarding the competency of his defense attorneys.
Humphries is also facing legal action for her murders. After entering a sales office in a model home on November 3, 2003, she forced two women to undress and murdered them after stealing from their bank accounts. Humphries' lawyers have argued that it is unfair for her clemency request to be considered by only four out of five members of the Board of Pardons and Paroles.
