The collapse of a gold mine in Sudan has killed at least 67 people and left several other workers missing. This incident occurred at a gold mine in the Al-Zahra area of the town of Nuhud in West Kordofan state. This area is under the control of the Rapid Support Forces, which have been at war with the Sudanese army for over three years.

Al-Amin Suleiman, one of the mine workers, stated that several individuals are still trapped inside the mine and in several shafts. Khair Al-Sayed Jabra, one of the survivors, described the incident as "massive" and added that the necessary machinery to remove the earth and debris is not readily available.
Sudan is considered one of the major gold producers in the world, but mine collapses due to poor safety standards are common in the country. Similar incidents in recent years include a mine collapse in 2023 that killed 14 miners and another incident in 2021 that left 38 dead.
