An 18-year-old Cal State Fullerton student named Anthony Joseph Blas died on Sunday due to suspected alcohol poisoning after a fraternity event. Fullerton police have requested assistance from the public regarding their ongoing investigation.
Details of the Incident
Emergency services were alerted after Blas was transported to the St. Jude Medical Center emergency room while in an unconscious state. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital. According to reports, Blas was present at an event known as "unaffiliated" near the intersection of Association and Milton streets.

Ongoing Investigation
Investigators have stated that alcohol consumption appears to have played a role in his death, although the official cause of death has not yet been determined and may take several weeks. The police have also found no indication that foul play was involved in Blas's death, nor does it appear that any inappropriate games were involved.
Sergeant Ryan O'Neil of the Fullerton police declined to explain who transported Blas to the medical center and did not specify whether police had questioned the person who brought him there.
Second Tragedy for the Cal State Fullerton Community
This incident marks the second tragedy to impact the Cal State Fullerton community in less than a year. Previously, Lauren Turner, a star football player at the university, lost her life after a fatal accident that left her in a coma. Turner, a 19-year-old Cal State Fullerton student, was struck by a truck while riding an electric scooter on September 27, and after about six weeks of battling severe brain injuries, she passed away on November 7.
Memorials for Turner, who her teammates described as a beloved and spirited individual, have surged, and her impact on the Titan women's soccer program has been described as immeasurable.
