Two police officers in Minnesota were injured while pursuing a suspect in an apartment building on September 2. The officers were securing the building when Johnson suddenly emerged from around a corner and fired at them. Officer Joseph Michnowski was shot at that moment and attempted to move away from the shooting location.

In the video, the officers check on each other's status via radio. Officer Michnowski, severely injured, calls for help with his trembling hand. Another officer, Yahya Mahmoud Ahmad, was also reacting to the shooting when suddenly yellow smoke appeared at the entrance, forcing them to retreat.
Consequences of the Shooting
Johnson's shooting caused significant panic among the building's residents. Emergency 911 call reports indicate that the victims were extremely anxious and fearful. One victim informed the operator that he had been shot in the legs and could not move, while another was hiding in a storage room expressing concern about Johnson's presence.
After injuring two building staff members, Johnson went to the ninth floor, killed two more residents, and was then shot dead by police. Officers and local authorities are investigating whether Johnson specifically targeted these residents or if he encountered them randomly.
Officials stated that the building owners were attempting to evict Johnson. He had threatened his neighbors and informed them of his intent to shoot them. At least one resident had sought a restraining order against him. The police had also investigated him in June for displaying a weapon but had not filed any charges against him.
