This pre-planned visit to Ashe County coincides with conflicts between technology leaders and political figures regarding artificial intelligence regulations. While industry leaders have expressed concerns and called for more oversight, Donald Trump, the President, rejected calls for further restrictions on Monday, describing the concept as a "hoax."

Focus on Educational Technology
Earlier this year, the First Lady drew national attention when she attended a White House event alongside a humanoid robot. This event was dedicated to a summit of First Ladies from other countries, focusing on empowering children through technology.
Last September, Melania Trump highlighted the economic growth stemming from technology during a White House working group on artificial intelligence in education, while also warning about it. She stated, "As leaders and parents, we must manage the growth of artificial intelligence responsibly. At this early stage, our duty is to treat AI like our children - empowering, but with close supervision."
Educational technology is one of the First Lady's main priorities, and she has also advocated for children in the foster care system and urged Congress to pass the "Take It Down Act" to criminalize revenge pornography.
This state also has one of the closest Senate races in the November midterm elections, where Michael Watley, the former chair of the Republican National Committee, is competing against Roy Cooper, the former Democratic governor. The President will travel to Gastonia in North Carolina on Wednesday to support Watley at a campaign rally.
