Luna's Reaction
Pablo Manriquez, a reporter, approached Luna on the steps of Congress on Monday and asked her to explain what happened between them. Luna jokingly said, "I was going to speak at that moment, so I didn’t even see it until later. One can only assume that maybe this was a... he played football, you know?" and added, "But no. There was no contact. He clearly is a former football player and maybe was looking for a greeting. I don’t know."
Turner’s Background
Turner, who played as a college athlete at the University of Illinois, played for eight seasons in the NFL as a cornerback for the Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders), San Diego Chargers (now Los Angeles Chargers), and Denver Broncos from 1995 to 2003. After retiring in 2013, he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives and served in that position until 2017, then was appointed as the Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council at the end of Donald Trump’s first presidential term.
