The Trump administration unexpectedly shared its personal playlist with reporters on Air Force One. This surreal moment occurred at 10 PM on Sunday, after officials traveling with the President asked reporters to listen to Trump's selected songs while working.

According to reports, reporters listened to various songs including "Jolene" by Dolly Parton, "Fernando" by ABBA, "Nessun Dorma" by Luciano Pavarotti, and "Baba O'Riley" by The Who. The Undertaker's entrance music from WWE was also included in the playlist.

While touring the press cabin of the plane, Trump asked reporters, "I want to make sure everyone agrees with the music, right?" One reporter replied, "We liked the music, Mr. President." Trump then added, "Is everyone good? I'm just here... I gave you a press conference before we boarded. This music is great, right?"

In response to a question about the song selections, Trump said, "Yes, I chose them myself. I want to make you happy, so I'm playing great, happy music." According to a White House news group report, these songs were played through a large speaker and were listed in a playlist titled "Approved List for Gatherings."
Other songs included in this playlist were "You Don’t Own Me" by Lesley Gore, "Wild World" by Cat Stevens, "Losing My Religion" by REM, and "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses. Trump, speaking with reporters, referred to the recent passing of Dolly Parton, saying, "Dolly was the best. It was a sad moment when Dolly left us. We have many songs from Dolly."
Trump also mentioned his love for music, stating, "I love music; I love good music. It's what keeps me happy." Several artists featured in Trump's playlist, including ABBA and the Pavarotti family, have condemned the use of their songs in Trump's campaigns.
After an event in August 2024 where songs "Dancing Queen," "The Winner Takes It All," and "Money, Money, Money" by ABBA were played, the group requested that the use of their music by Trump's team cease. A representative from Universal Music stated, "We have become aware that videos have been released featuring ABBA's music and videos used at Trump events, and therefore we have requested that this use be removed immediately."
The Pavarotti family also protested the use of "Nessun Dorma" by Trump's campaign in 2016, with his wife and daughters telling The New York Times, "The values of brotherhood and solidarity that Luciano Pavarotti expressed throughout his artistic career are entirely inconsistent with the worldview presented by candidate Donald Trump."
Trump is known for playing his favorite songs at his rallies. Sources told Axios in 2024 that the President is now recognized as "DJ T" by those who regularly visit the Mar-a-Lago resort. Trump personally controls the volume of the music and plays a collection of songs, including Broadway musical songs like "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "The Phantom of the Opera."
