The White House has referenced the change in Wendy's packaging and has tried to attribute the credibility of this decision to itself. Wendy's announced this week that it will return to its classic yellow packaging, a move that evokes a wave of 90s nostalgia sought after by Millennial and Gen Z generations.
Reactions to the White House Post
In response to a post on social media platform X about the return of Wendy's yellow packaging, the White House account wrote on Thursday: "Thank you, President Trump!!!!!" However, users in the comments either could not find a connection between Trump and this decision or mocked him for his claim regarding a change in the fast food industry.
One user wrote: "Trump has nothing to do with this. You should say 'thank you, Dave Thomas' and thank the customers who wanted it." Another user said: "The level of delusion really scares me."
Wendy's Justification for Returning to Classic Packaging
In the meantime, Wendy's announced that the reason for this change is the repeated requests from customers to return to the yellow packaging. According to a spokesperson for the company, "Fans have been asking for this packaging to return for years, and this has been one of the most requested comebacks in Wendy's history." The yellow packaging has been part of Wendy's identity from the beginning, and many fans can immediately recognize it.
The yellow packaging will return on September 28 and will continue until 2027. When the White House was asked to provide an explanation about its post and thank Trump for reviving the yellow packaging, it simply stated: "America is back on track!"
Some users on X also criticized the White House post, stating that Americans are currently facing many problems in meeting basic needs, and even the price of fast food, which was once considered cheap, is now putting significant pressure on their budgets.
According to federal consumer price index data, food prices increased by 2.7 percent in August compared to last year. Additionally, energy prices rose by 16.3 percent in August compared to last year due to Trump's war in Iran.
One user wrote: "No one can afford it, but thank you, President Trump!" Another user added: "Do you have any thoughts on gas prices, food, rent, or electricity, President Trump?"
Wendy's transformation to bring back the classic yellow packaging comes after one of the largest franchise operators of the brand, the most important hospitality group, announced bankruptcy.
