Four people were taken to the hospital after a crane collapsed at a construction site in the Brickell neighborhood of Miami on Monday morning.
Details of the Incident
The crane collapse occurred after 8 a.m. in this upscale Miami neighborhood. Miami Fire Chief Robert Hewitt expressed relief at a press conference on Monday morning that the incident did not result in any fatalities. He said, "When you look at the scene, it's amazing."

Details about the Victims
A woman was driving on a street near the construction site when she witnessed the crane collapse. Hewitt explained, "She was able to calmly back her vehicle away to get out, while her car also caught fire when the crane landed on it."
The crane also fell on a storage container that two construction workers were inside. The fire chief described the scene as "complex" and said that one worker was cutting the trapped workers out of the large metal box while another worker was trying to extinguish the fire.
The two trapped workers, along with the crane operator who managed to escape during the collapse, were taken to a nearby trauma center and sustained minor injuries. The female driver was also taken to another hospital where she had minor injuries.
Hewitt stated that all other workers at the construction site were accounted for and safe. Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of the crane collapse, which is specifically a foundation crane. Hewitt added that the incident is under investigation. A foundation crane typically shares a base with a traditional crane, but its upper part is designed to place columns deep into the ground to support large structures.
Officials have not yet identified the victims of the incident.
