Four people were injured on Monday morning as a result of a heavy crane falling on a moving car in an upscale neighborhood in Miami. The incident occurred in the Brickell area of Miami after 8 a.m. and caused a fire in the vehicle.
Incident Details
Robert Huya, the Miami Fire Chief, expressed relief at a press conference on Monday afternoon that no one lost their life in the incident. He said: "I have been in the fire department for 28 years; the scene I saw was extraordinary. The fact that four people were injured and all of them were able to escape with minor injuries is an amazing day for them."

Rescue Operations
Huya explained that a female driver who was driving on a street adjacent to the construction site witnessed the crane's fall and managed to reverse her car and exit while the vehicle was catching fire. He added that the fall also crushed two empty parked cars and collided with a storage container with two construction workers inside it.
The two workers who were trapped under the crane, along with the crane operator who jumped out at the time of the fall, were transported to a local trauma center with minor injuries. The female driver also sustained minor injuries and was taken to another hospital. Officials have not yet released the identities of the injured.
Investigation into the Cause of the Incident
Huya emphasized that the scene was very complex, and firefighters were extinguishing the fire while a technical rescue team was simultaneously cutting the container and ultimately managed to rescue two victims. He stated that all other workers at the construction site have been accounted for and are safe.
Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of the crane's fall, which is specifically a foundation crane, and Huya noted that the incident is currently under investigation. A foundation crane typically has a base similar to a traditional crane, but its upper part is designed to drive structural columns deep into the ground.
