Donald Trump has significantly been removed from Republican television ads ahead of the November midterm elections. According to new analyses, Trump has appeared in only 12 ads out of more than 500 Republican television ads related to candidates between September 1 and September 15.
Advertising Costs and Focus on Democratic Opponents
These ads have collectively cost over one million dollars, while the total investment in these ads reaches 160 million dollars. Analyses indicate that Republican campaigns have focused more on undermining Democratic opponents rather than directly connecting with Trump or promoting his record.

Trump's Role in Democratic Ads
According to the same analysis, Trump has been referenced much more in Democratic ads. He has been mentioned in 95 Democratic ads that aired in the first two weeks of September, with a spending of over 23 million dollars on these ads. Many of these ads have attempted to link conservative candidates to Trump and his agenda.
The Republicans' inclination to distance themselves from Trump has become evident, especially in light of recent polls. According to one poll, 46 percent of people believe that Trump's record has made it harder for Republicans to win since his return to power in January 2025. This view is supported not only by Democrats and independents but also by 30 percent of right-leaning voters.
Meanwhile, some Republican candidates have privately asked Trump's team not to appear in their areas. One senior Republican official said, "We have told them he cannot come. To be clear, he will not be helpful here." Polls and consultations have made it clear to many candidates that frequent references to Trump could be detrimental to them.
Ultimately, a Republican advertising strategist said, "The president is not currently our best message or messenger." These statements reflect candidates' reluctance to associate themselves with Trump ahead of the elections.
