Bruce Davis, a former follower of Charles Manson and convicted of two murders, has died in prison. Davis, who was serving his life sentence, passed away on Friday at a medical facility in California located in Vacaville. According to reports, the Solano County Coroner's Office has confirmed the news.

Bruce Davis died on September 29, 2023, at the prison hospital. He had been trying for years to obtain parole, but his requests were repeatedly denied by state officials. California governors, including Gavin Newsom, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jerry Brown, have consistently rejected the recommendations of the parole board for his release.

Davis's Criminal Background
Davis was convicted for his role in the 1969 murders of musician Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald "Shorty" Shea. At a parole hearing in 2014, Davis admitted that he had a weapon in hand during Manson's attack on Hinman with a sword and also attacked Shea with a knife. He stated at that hearing: "I wanted to be Charlie's favorite man." After Hinman's murder, other members of the group used his blood to write the phrase "Political Piggy" on the wall.
Davis was not involved in the separate murders that Manson and his followers committed in 1969 against actress Sharon Tate and six others, and according to police records, he played no role in those crimes. Charles Manson, the leader of the cult, died in prison in 2017.
