Two 24-year-old college friends died in the early hours of Sunday after being struck by a train at the Spring Street subway station in Manhattan, New York. According to reports, the two young men appeared to be unaware of the imminent danger while sitting on the train tracks.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred at 3 a.m. According to police sources, one of the friends was sitting on the tracks while his girlfriend tried to pull him towards her, but at that moment, train number 4 struck them. It is still unclear whether the young man was sitting on the tracks intentionally or had suddenly fallen onto them.
Video reports released on social media show that the two were sitting on the tracks moments before the train collided with them. The train operator attempted to use the emergency brakes, but there was not enough time to prevent the incident.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, the two young men were found under the train and both died at the scene.
